Prompt: Humans are just little computers

Word Limit: 400 words

It was a balmy night and the apartment’s ventilation made it sweltering. Usually this kind of heat would bother Mica but not tonight, tonight he had some premium distractions from the heat. For one there was the triad a fans setup around the living room to cool the couch for the watching of films, and for two there was the bag of weed.

Mica was meant to share the aforementioned product with his best mate Jose and girlfriend Roxanne, but the heatwave had coerced Jose to cancel in favour of his swimming pool and for Roxanne to book a girls retreat at a hotel. That meant Mica had it all to himself, it also meant reckless philosophy.

It wasn’t a good plan, but after the weed and a bucket of KFC Mica was convinced that filming himself talk about philosophy was an excellent idea. And so it began.

“What if birds devolved back into dinosaurs?”

“Life is just God’s game of the Sims and he’s forgotten about most of the family he made and that’s why things just go to shit and then BOOM they suddenly get better.”

“What if the universe is just a giant brain?”

Later when Mica began to come down from the high he would forget about his filming experience. Forget until Roxanne came home that is.

“Mica, what’s this random video file on your desktop?”

“Uh, I don’t know.”

“What do you mean, you don’t know?”

“I don’t know what the file is, just open it and find out.”

“OKAY!”

There was silence for a few minutes,

“This better not be a weird porno.” Roxanne warned as she watched the screen to try and figure out what was meant to be happening, and then there was Mica on screen.

“Humans are just little computers, just think about it. I mean sure we’re bigger than computers but we store less information, our data chips aren’t as big as a computer’s”

“Mica it’s you”

“What do you mean it’s me?”

Mica went into the living room and low and behold, there was him on the computer screen making remarks about dogs rising up to enslave humanity.

“So that’s what happened to the pot.”

“Yeah I guess it is.”
