Saturday Word of the Day: Wassail

*Wassail: to drink to the health or success of; toast.

The rain was coming down heavy and everyone was inside with the aircon on, the ham was in the oven and the entrees on the table. Christmas carols were playing, and kids were complaining about wanting to open their presents. All around it was lively and inviting.

“Alright, alright, the ham is almost done so let’s pop open the bubbly and open them presents!” the mother of the house came out from the kitchen, a big grin on her face.

The children cheered, running to sit by the tree, and the adults grabbed the wine glasses and brought out the champagne. Drinks were poured, mimosas were made and happy laughter abounded.

“Ok everyone lets raise a glass and for this Christmas day wassail!”
