Saturday Word of the Day: Membranophone

*Membranophone: any musical instrument, as a drum, in which the sound is produced by striking, rubbing, or blowing against a membrane stretched over a frame.

Johnny was a musician, specialising in membranophones. The drums were his instrument of choice, and whenever someone in town needed a drummer they would call him up. He wasn’t affiliated with any of the bands; he merely joined them if they needed an emergency drummer.

Some of the bands would beg him to jam with them exclusively but that wasn’t Johnny’s style. Johnny owned a music store when he wasn’t playing, that’s where his passion was. He always kept an eye out for when new customers came in, waiting to see if they’d be enthused by a membranophone.
